Hello from Somalia — national payment infrastructure and Mojaloop

Hello everyone,

I’m Abdulshakur Ahmed Aided, a payment systems architect based in Mogadishu, Somalia. I currently serve as Acting Head of Operations and Head of IT at Somali Payment Switch.

I am participating here in a personal professional capacity, and the views I share are my own.

My work covers participant integration, ISO 20022 payment flows, settlement and reconciliation, operational controls, and the institutional capabilities required to operate national payment infrastructure reliably.

My interest in Mojaloop comes from its potential to provide an open foundation for interoperable instant payments while allowing countries and scheme operators to retain control over their scheme rules, operating model, settlement arrangements, local integrations, and long-term technical capability.

I am new to the Mojaloop community and am not presenting myself as an established Mojaloop contributor. My work so far has focused on independent architectural research, implementation analysis, and exploring how Mojaloop could support national payment infrastructure without forcing participating institutions to rebuild their existing integrations.
