Community Council Minutes 2024-11-07

MEETING ATTENDEES:
Simeon Oriko, Johan Foley, Kyeyoung Shin, Kim Walters, Reica Rampersadh, Sam Kummary, Megan Cannon, Maia Porter

1.0 WELCOME, ROLL CALL, AGENDA REVIEW
Simeon welcomed the group and reviewed the agenda.

2.0 APPROVAL OF 30 SEPTEMBER MINUTES
Responses to the previous 30 September eBallot did not meet quorum, therefore a new eBallot bundling both the 30 September and 4 November CoCo meeting minutes will be circulated via email.

3.0 UPDATE ON THE MOJALOOP FOUNDATION CONVENING

Simeon shared an update on the upcoming Convening in Kigali, which takes place next week (11 November- 15 November).

• Simeon reviewed the event agenda and highlighted specific events that would be of interest to the Community Council.
• Simeon encouraged CoCo members to register to attend the Convening and reminded them of the fee waiver registration code which was shared with them via email.
• Cabinet Minister Paula Ingabire (Minister of Information & Communications Technology and Innovation) and Soraya Hakuziyaremye (Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda, and former Minister of Trade and Industry) will each deliver keynote addresses on the morning of Tuesday, 12 November.
• Immediately following the keynote addresses, a launch announcement at 10AM.

4.0 ONBOARDING NEW COMMUNITY MEMBERS

Simeon shared an update on the introduction of various resources and guidelines that should streamline the onboarding process for new members.

• Some resources and enhancements that are complete or ongoing include:
o Contribution Acceptance Guide
o Workstream Governance Guidelines
o Webinar series targeted at potential adopters
o Community members ‘Case studies’ blog series
o New and updated courses for the training program

• Areas that are still in development include:
o Accelerator program/capacity building (Tullo/Simeon)
o Ongoing updates to documentation

• Simeon noted that many of these updates will be highlighted next week in the Community Session.
• Enhancing the onboarding process is an ongoing effort and encouraged CoCo members to send their suggestions directly to him via email or share their feedback on Slack.

5.0 AOB

• Annual elections for the Community Council and Change Control Board will be announced next week.
• CoCo members who are currently serving for their first year are encouraged to run for a 2nd term.
• Those who are finishing out their 2nd term will not be eligible to run for this next term.

6.0 ADJOURN
